MEMBERSHIP TYPES
1. Academic year or Semester membership
Sudent can choose to join the student union for the whole academic year or for one semester.
Membership fees 2012-2013
The whole academic year: 25 €
Autum or Spring semester: 13 €
In addition new card fee: 5 €
2. Blue or green student card
With JAMKO membership the student gets an official SAMOK-student card, which grants the student to local and national student benefits. There are two types of cards; blue and green ones.
Membership benefits are almost the same with both cards, but some companies don't allow student discounts with green student cards. In a nutshell, the blue student card is for fulltime students and the green one is for others.
The blue student card
CONDITIONS TO BE FULLFILLED FOR THE BLUE SAMOK STUDENT CARD (full-time students)
The student has to meet ALL of these conditions:
1.The student is studying as a full-time student and without wages at the University of Applied Sciences and has no permanent tenure, nor a job contract considered similar to a permanent tenure. The student has enrolled for attendance at the mentioned semester/academic year. On request a certificate has to be shown for that.
2.The student is studying for a degree of the University of Applied Sciences and has not taken an upper degree at an institute of higher degree. Titles of the degree of the University of Applied Sciences are e.g. Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Engineering or Registered Nurse.
3.The uninterrupted duration of her/his studies is at least 8 months. The exchange students need not to study for the whole 8 months in Finland, but they have to show a certificate which confirms the minimum regular duration of 8 months.
4.There is no apprenticeship contract for the studies, the student is not assigned for the studies by the employment agency, or the studies do not belong to the range of personnel training.
5.The student becomes a member of the student union of her/his University of Applied Sciences.
6.The student commits her/himself to returning the student card, when she/he graduates or does not otherwise meet these conditions any more. The use of the card after the conditions are not fulfilled anymore is a punishable deed.
What does it give back?
Is a national student card that is an access to all national and local student discounts and benefits. Works also as a library card in JAMK.
The green student card
CONDITIONS TO BE FULLFILLED FOR THE GREEN SAMOK STUDENT CARD (other than full-time students)
1.The student is studying for a degree of the University of Applied Sciences, but doesn’t meet the conditions of the blue card, or is studying for the Master degree. Other than those, who are studying for a degree or a Master degree can’t get even the green student card. (f. ex. Open Studies)
2.The student has enrolled for attendance at the mentioned semester/academic year. On request a certificate has to be shown for that.
3.The student becomes a member of the student union of her/his University of Applied Sciences.
4.The student commits her/himself to returning the student card, when she/he graduates or does not otherwise meet these conditions any more. The use of the card after the conditions are not fulfilled anymore is a punishable deed.
What does it give back?
Is a national student card that is an access to national and local student discounts and benefits, excluding i.a. discounts of VR and Matkahuolto. Works as a library card in JAMK.
Be carefull, when choosing the card type. It’s on your responsibility to do the right solution between the card types. Exchange of card types afterwards is difficult and costs.
