MEMBERSHIP TYPES
1. Academic year or Semester membership
Sudent can choose to join the student union for the whole academic year or for one semester.
Membership fees 2011-2012
The whole academic year: 25 €
Autum or Spring semester: 13 €
In addition new card fee: 5 €
2. Blue or green student card
With JAMKO membership the student gets an official SAMOK-student card, which grants the student to local and national student benefits. There are two types of cards; blue and green ones.
Membership benefits are almost the same with both cards, but some companies don't allow student discounts with green student cards. In a nutshell, the blue student card is for fulltime students and the green one is for others.

Who gets it?
Is granted only for the full-time degree students and full-time exchange students of JAMK University of Applied Sciences, but not for the students in Open University of Applied Sciences. A full-time studing means, that student does not have a fixed term job employment contract. Studying must last longer than 8 weeks (not necessarily in JAMK, but in general).
What does it give back?
Is a national student card that is an access to all national and local student discounts and benefits. Works also as a library card in JAMK.
The green student card
Who gets it?
Is granted for any student of JAMK, who is not entitled for the blue student card. Only exception are the students of Open University of Applied Sciences, who are unfortunately not entitled to any student card.
Student is entitled to green student card:
- Not a full-time student, but still a degree student (has a fixed term employment contract).
- Not a degree studet, but still a full-time student and studies will continue more than 8 weeks (not necessarily in JAMK, but in general).
What does it give back?
Is a national student card that is an access to national and local student discounts and benefits, excluding i.a. discounts of VR, Matkahuolto and Jyväskylän liikenne. Works as a library card in JAMK.
