JAMKO’s representative council for 2021 has been elected
The new representatives council of JAMKO, the student union of the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, has been elected in the representative council election on November 4th, 2020.
The election was held between October 26th and November 4th, and in total, 520 students voted in the election. A total of 3241 students were eligible to vote, making the overall voter turnout 16%. The turnout increased by two percentage points as compared to the election in 2019.
21 actual members of the representative council were elected from 31 candidates. Below is a list of the seats secured by each election coalition (chosen members + vice members) for the next term, as well as the percentage of the vote received by each coalition.

The candidates who received the most votes this year were Eliisa Siipilehto (Jasto, 54 votes) and Siiri Ihalainen (Konkurssi, 39 votes).

Responsibilities of the representative council
The representative council holds the highest decision-making power in JAMKO, and its job is to advocate for the interests of students at JAMK. In the meetings of the representative council, issues relating to the student union’s activities are discussed, such as membership fees and cooperation and collaboration with JAMK.
The new representatives council organizes on November 16th. On this date, the final composition of the representative council may also change, in case members are selected to the JAMKO Board. The representative council begins its term on January 1st, 2021.
