Open UAS and Professional Teacher training

Green membership

Due to the increased demand and the growing range of types of study, JAMKO has decided to open up their membership to a wider range of students. Until now, all degree and exchange students of JAMK UAS who have enrolled as attending have been able to become JAMKO members (blue membership). Now other JAMK UAS students can also become members, for whom the so-called green membership is available. The membership period, membership price and terms and conditions are the same for all JAMKO members, regardless of the type of study right or membership type.

Who can get a green membership?

A green membership and student card can be obtained, for example, by a student of Open UAS, study paths or Professional Teacher training, or a student pursuing any other non-degree education. A member of the Students’ Union must be enrolled as attending.

How to become a member?

You can join JAMKO through Kide.app.

When joining, the right to study is checked through HAKA identification. Membership type and student card type are automatically determined based on the type of study right.

You can find instructions on how to join here

How do I get a student card?

After paying the membership fee, you can activate the digital student card in Kide.app. You can find instructions for activating the digital card here: instructions on how to activate the digital student card

For the time being, students entitled to green membership cannot obtain a physical student card through JAMKO.

What do I get as a member of JAMKO?

The green membership entitles you to almost all the same benefits as the blue membership.

As a JAMKO member, you can easily become part of your own student community. Membership is also a comprehensive service and benefits package that offers many national and local benefits, versatile leisure opportunities and events.

As a member of the Students’ Union, you can also make your voice heard in the university community and influence how your affairs are handled. JAMKO’s trusteeship is involved in JAMK’s administrative bodies and working groups, making the student’s voice heard in different units and areas of administration. JAMKO provides support and advice for all students with problems related to studying.

As a member of JAMKO, you get:

  • a student card
  • the right to stand as a candidate and to vote in the annual JAMKO Representatives’ Election
  • reduced price for JAMKO events
  • JAMKO’s own member benefits, e.g.
    • free gym on the Rajakatu campus
    • discounts on JAMKO Café products
    • discounts from JAMKO’s partners

Green membership does not entitle you to Kela’s meal subsidy or student discounts for VR trains, Matkahuolto bus tickets and local transport.

Why doesn’t green membership entitle you to Kela’s meal subsidy or student discounts for VR, Matkahuolto and local transport?

These benefits are tied to the type of study right, and each service provider decides on the conditions for granting the benefits. The Students’ Union cannot decide on these.
