Agreement on the use of Monitoimitalo gym for Academic Sports students
For years, the Monitoimitalo gym of the City of Jyväskylä has been free for the University sports sticker owners. However, there were plans to increase the fee per visit to €4 from the beginning of 2016. After long negotiations, the University of Jyväskylä and the City of Jyväskylä have reached an agreement on a student-friendly price for the gym since both parties wanted to maintain good cooperation in gym services which are important to students. The agreement covers all students of Academic Sports in Jyväskylä, that is, students of the University of Jyväskylä, the JAMK University of Applied Sciences and the Jyväskylä regional unit of the HUMAK University of Applied Sciences.
According to the agreement, the University of Jyväskylä compensates user fees so that Academic Sports students pay €2 (normal price €4) for one gym visit. The serial card of 10 visits costs €18 + the wristband fee of €10 (normal price €31 + the wristband fee). All benefits require an Academic Sports sticker. The benefits are valid for the trial period 1 January–31 August 2016. A possible further agreement on the use of the gym will be based on the trial.
