JAMKO’s actives for 2017 chosen
Student Union JAMKO’s new board and the Chairpersons of The Representatives for the year 2017 was elected on Wednesday night Nov 23rd at the organizing meeting of the Representatives.
The Chairperson of the Board for the year 2017 is Jarna Väisänen, a third year business administration student. Väisänen has been in charge of peer tutoring during the current year. The Representatives elected Katja Väärälä as the Vice Chair of the Board for the term 2017. Väärälä is a second year tourism and service management student and has been responsible for Culture and Entertainment. Board’s Chairperson is responsible for Student Union’s administration and acts as the superior to the Board. Vice Chairperson supervises JAMKO’s service processes and events.

Members of the Board in 2017 are Mari Pynssi, Tero Björkman, Timo Varakas, Aleksi Huttunen, Veera Heinonen, Teemu Oja-Lipasti, Joonas Uusi-Autti and Netta Hautamäki. Ten people applied to the Board. The areas of responsibility the Board will decide in their first meeting on 1st of December.
The Representatives elected Roni Sorsa, a 2nd year construction and civil engineering student as the new Chairperson of the Representatives and Tuomas Kallinki as the Vice Chair for 2017. Kallinki studies tourism for the 3rd year. Sorsa has been responsible for social policy and and Kallinki for sports in JAMKO’s Board during 2016.
The compilation of the Representatives changed due to the Board formation and Chairperson elections. Emma Vänskä (Konkurssi), Anniina Rautanen (Jasto), Niko Korhonen (Insinööriopiskelijat) ja Teemu Pölkki (Konkurssi) acceeded to actual members. In addition, the Representatives elected the student members to JAMK UAS’ working groups and to the delegation of Central Finland Student Housing Foundation KOAS.
The New Representatives council, Board and the student members of the working groups start their term January 1st 2017. All Board members and the Representatives are JAMK students work-ing in the position of trust based on voluntariness.
The Student Union of JAMKO is a statutory, non-aligned trusteeship and services organization, whose purpose is to act as a means to a better education and a sense of comprehensive well-being for all students of the JAMK UAS. The Board and the Representatives act as advocates to the student body and influences in regional and national matters concerning UAS students.
