Temporary accommodation for students

You should not put your requirement level too high when it comes to your first apartment. The most important thing is to confirm one and start seeking one that meets your needs when you are more familiar with the city. If the situation seems bad, temporary accommodation relieves the pressure for students who have not a permanent place to stay at the beginning of the studies. A few service providers are organizing short term housing at Jyväskylä.

Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä | Gasthaus Laajis

JAMKO supports the temporary accommodation provided by the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä (JYY). JYY organises temporary accommodation in fall 2015 for the students of the University of Jyväskylä and JAMK UAS. Accommodation is meant for students who don’t have an apartment when their studies begin in Jyväskylä. Temporary accommodation is arranged in Gasthaus Laajis mainly from 19th of August to 1st of October during week days with a few limitations. The price is 20 €/night/person and it’s valid only for students using temporary accommodation.

Omenahotel

Omena Hotels offers affordable and easy accommodation for students without a permanent residence. Accommodation is provided in the center of town in a room with double bed, large screen TV, free high-speed Internet access, a mini fridge, microwave and kettle. Each room has its own shower. The service provider requests at least one month reservations. Room rates: 490€/room/month (max 2 persons / room) incl. Water, electricity, wi-fi.

Telkänhoiva Oy

In Halssila area (about 2km from the city center) there are 25m2 rooms with a joint kitchen but each room has its own bathroom. The rent is 400€/month + water fee 25€/month. They are free starting from 1st of September and available until 31st of December 2015. The building is part of an retirement home and the rental regulations forbid smoking and silence in the apartment building comes at 10pm.
